A man has been arrested after allegedly sneaking into a home through a crawlspace to abduct his 5-week-old daughter, according to MLive.

Michigan State Police stated the the man, who is the child’s biological father, was apprehended Thursday by Troy Police after fleeing the house with the child and stealing the baby’s mother’s car.

Around 7:10 a.m. Thursday, police were called to a home in the 27000 block of Irwin Road in Richmond Township for a report of a stolen vehicle. When police arrived on the scene, they discovered that the child had mysteriously vanished. During the investigation, troopers discovered that the biological father of the child, who has not been publicly named by police, went into the house via a crawlspace and kidnapped the child.

MSP was making preparations to release an Amber Alert for the baby when the Madison Heights Police Department notified them that they had found the baby after employees at a nearby business heard a child crying.

The baby was discovered on the sidewalk in a car seat by police and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. According to law enforcement, the child has been reconnected with her mom and does not seem to to have been hurt in the incident.

The vehicle that had been stolen had also been recovered.
