Black-ish Creator Kenya Barris Seeks Restraining Order Against His Own Sister

Black-ish creator Kenya Barris has filed a restraining order against his sister Colette.

According to TMZ, Barris filed the order because he fears his sister is going to harm his six children.

He states that he thinks his sister will retaliate against his kids after her multiple attempts to launch her own shows and profit off of his name.

Wife, Rania ‘Rainbow’ Barris and Kenya have six children and have been married 20 years.

Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross characters in the show ‘Black-ish’ is loosely based on the Barrises.

He’s ‘asking a judge to enforce a court-ordered shield of protection so she has to stay away from him and his family and cease communication.’ 

In 2016, she wrote a book entitled ‘Claretta Street.’

Kenya also ‘alleges Colette recently sent him a legal demand letter’ which said he must put money towards a movie project in the amount of $4million to bring her book to life on the movie screen.

He also says that she has ‘demanded he take care of her and their extended family with cash.’
