According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, a 22-year-old Deltona, Florida man faces eight felony charges after assualting a deputy during a violent fight. When the suspect’s girlfriend claimed she had seen him forcefully kiss his 16-year-old stepsister, the alleged fight began.

The incident occurred on March 29, which actually occurred on Russell Slimon’s birthday, according to investigators. After the fight broke out, a family member dialed 911.

My stepdad is pulling a gun out on him. I’m scared ma’am. Please help me,” said the caller.

Slimon was found on the ground struggling another male by deputies who arrived at the dysfunctional scene on Babcock Avenue.

Hey everybody get on the ground now!” yelled the deputy.

His body camera caught the audio. When Slimon charges towards the officer, the deputy with his taser out appears to have broken up the struggle.

“It never had to happen,” the stepfather, Glenn Ford said.

The fight with his step-son left Ford with abrasions on his face and two fractured ribs. He claimed it all began when he asked Russell to leave after he snatched up and kissed his stepsister aggressively.

“He grabbed the dog leash. I was sitting at the table like you saw me. He came behind me, pushed his mom out of the way, wrapped a leash around my neck, pulled me off the chair and started strangling me right there on the ground,” said Ford.

When his mother tried to intervene, Russell allegedly tried to “strangle” her also. According to Ford, he got up and grabbed his shotgun, which led to the chaos outside.

“He almost got shot here, and he almost got shot again and the cop told my wife he had every right to put him in his place with a gun because he was being strangled from behind,” said Ford.

Russell is charged with ten counts, including eight felonies. Battery, child abuse, and resisting arrest are among the charges.

Glenn hopes that this incident will lead to his step-son receiving the help he requires, but he is not permitted to return to their home in the meantime.
