Brazen Daytime Robbery Captured on Camera in Los Angeles

Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the victim and witnesses in this attempted robbery in which the victim returned fire. Surveillance video that captured this incident in great detail has been recovered by detectives.

Two suspects exited an idling Dodge Avenger near Melrose Avenue and Vista Street around 7:10 p.m. on Monday, July 19, 2021, and confronted the victim with a pistol in hand. Words were exchanged, and the victim eventually produced his own handgun, presumably to protect himself and others in his group from the wannabe robbers. The victim discharged his weapon at the perpetrators.

Officers apprehended the robbery suspects a soon afterwards and discovered that they had sustained non-life threatening bullet wounds.
