According to the Cobb County Police Department, a suspect was killed during an officer-involved shooting.

The suspect fled the scene in a car during the traffic stop, impacting several automobiles near Sandtown Road and Powder Springs. According to authorities, once the vehicle was halted, a Cobb County officer fired his weapon, striking the suspect. The suspect died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The GBI has been called in and will be in charge of the investigation.

Police initially claimed that the suspect’s vehicle had been stolen; however, police later issued a clarification, indicating that the suspect had been stopped for driving recklessly.

According to CBS46, the suspect has been identified as Devonte Dawayne Brown, 28, of Austell. At this moment, it is unknown what prompted the cop to open fire on the suspect.
