Chrissy Teigen made a public apology to Courtney Stodden, a former reality TV star, on Wednesday for her previous online bullying.
Courtney Stodden claimed on Twitter that Chrissy Teigen “would privately DM me and tell me to kill myself” after Teigen publicly insulted the model on the social media platform in 2011 (she was 16 at that time).
Stodden, 26, made the assertion in a new interview with The Daily Beast on Monday after coming out as non-binary and sharing their new pronouns, they/them/their, last month.
“She wouldn’t just publicly tweet about wanting me to take ‘a dirt nap’ but would privately DM me and tell me to kill myself,” said Stodden to The Daily Beast. “Things like ‘I can’t wait for you to die.’ And not only her, but Joy Behar had a field day with calling me a ‘slut.’ Courtney Love told me I was a ‘whore.’”
Stodden’s experience with Teigen’s cyber bullying surfaced after Teigen herself eventually moved on from Twitter for a short period of time due to purported harassment. Stodden, according to TMZ, accused Teigen of being a “hypocrite” in a social media post, providing screengrabs of all the angry tweets Teigen had tagged them in when they were still teens.
