Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is set to miss the remainder of the season after experiencing a compound fracture and dislocation to his right ankle, which required Sunday night surgery.

According to ESPN, the surgery went “very well.”

Prescott was pulled to the turf by Giants Safety Logan Ryan midway through the third quarter and abruptly started waving to the sidelines for assistance after his foot appeared to snap inward. Teammates responded in fright and devastation, praying and gasping as they looked at the replay.

“The worst thing that happened today was the Dak injury,” Ryan said. “It’s bigger than football. My job in this game plan was to make it really tough on Dak. He made it really tough on us. That was nothing but a routine tackle between two competitors.”

With tears pouring down his face, Prescott’s leg was encased in air and he was placed onto a trolley as he gnawed on a towel to control his emotions. He raised his fist to an overwhelming response from the COVID-restricted capacity home crowd of 25,000.
