An unarmed man was recorded on camera being punched in the face by a Michigan cop, who appeared to knock him out cold.

According to the footage, the unidentified Detroit cop was part of a group of six officers walking toward a guy standing in the center of the street in the early Sunday when he struck him with a right cross to the head.

According to the video, when the man awoke and began yelling, the cop took his legs away from him and walked away.

Others arrived to help the punched man, who was dressed in a Detroit Tigers shirt and had a bloodied mouth.

Officials claimed the officer who threw the punch was assigned to desk duty as the department initiated an inquiry into the footage.
