A murder charge has been brought against the son of Los Angeles rapper DJ Quik in connection with the death of a 33-year-old man in Downey.

David M. Blake Jr., 27, was taken into custody in Porter Ranch on May 26 in connection with the death of Julio Cardoza, which occurred following a brawl in the 13200 block of Carfax Avenue in Downey the day before.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Blake was charged with murder and also faces an allegation of personal use of a firearm.

Blake, who was in a nearby vehicle, reportedly gunned down Cardoza before fleeing, according to the district attorney’s office.

On Tuesday afternoon, arraignment is scheduled. It is unclear whether Blake has a lawyer at this time.

Blake Jr. served as a “council liaison” for vilified defunct Compton city councilman Isaac Galvan, according to city and pay records.

According to KTLA, he is being held on $2 million bail and is expected to be arraigned Tuesday.
