A pet chimpanzee that weighed over 200 pounds was shot and killed over the weekend by a sheriff’s deputy in northeastern Oregon city of Pendleton.

The pet lived with the woman for 17 years, but the adult male chimpanzee attacked the owner’s daughter and needed to be ‘put down.’

According to The Oregonian, the owner advised authorities that the chimp, named Buck, had sprung from its enclosure and confined her daughter inside a basement bedroom.

The deputy, according to the video clip below, fired one fatal shot to the chimpanzee’s head. The daughter and mother were taking to a hospital for treatment, according to FOX8.
