A couple of TikTok-famous Mobile,Alabama twins were arrested Thursday after allegedly firing shots in a local park, injuring two people, including a teenage girl, according to police.
According to Fox 10, the incident at Maitre Park was streamed live, which Mobile’s top cop believes was done on purpose to gain social media clout, local news AL.com reported.
Consuela and Allie Jones are identified as the Famous Twins on Instagram and TikTok, where they have a million followers under the handle @fam0us.twinsss.
According to Fox 10, after a brawl in Maitre Park, a livestream managed to show a woman firing gunshots as the crowd dispersed.
According to the outlet, a 16-year-old girl and a woman were wounded by gunfire but are expected to be fine.
According to records at the Mobile Metro Jail, the twin girls were charged with second-degree assault in connection with the case.
Mobile Police Chief Paul Prine told Fox 10 that while he was “disgusted” by the live broadcast, he hopes it leads to more tips about the alleged assault.
Prine speculated that cell phone cameras were used to help the twins gain a larger social media following.
“I think that it’s important to note that maybe in that particular incident that the video was intentional, and it was to gain attention. Either for social media or for some sort of reward whatever the case may be,” Prine explained.
“It seems like especially with the younger generation, they solicit some type of following or gathering from these types of incidents. But nevertheless, that’s an unfortunate incident, but the video certainly aided in developing the identity of the suspects as well.”
The arrest of one half of the Famous Twins on Thursday was not their first run-in with the law.
Consuela Jones, also known as Sway Bentley, was arrested in September on a variety of charges, including second-degree marijuana possession, drug paraphernalia possession, pistol carrying with a permit, second-degree domestic violence, and burglary.
Following a fight between her and her sister, the charges were filed.
