A Katy mother was killed and her two children were injured in an overnight shooting and SWAT standoff, according to ABC13.

When officers arrived at a home in the 2700 block of Roaring Oaks Lane , they discovered a woman deceased outside from a gunshot wound.

According to deputies, the alleged shooter barricaded himself inside and threatened to kill himself. The SWAT standoff began at that point.

The suspect, identified as Lawrence Reed, eventually surrendered to Harris County Sheriff’s Office SWAT officers. Deputies said it took negotiators about 30 minutes to get Reed out of the house.

Valerie Junius, his wife, was identified as the woman who was shot and killed.

According to deputies, the shooting appeared to be motivated by a continuing domestic dispute between the husband and wife.

Bullets also shot Junius’ two children, a 16-year-old boy and a 20-year-old woman. According to deputies, they are recovering in a hospital.

ABC13 spoke with a neighbor who called 911 that stated, “The kids came running outside when I heard the gunshots the first time and I told my friend I would call her back,” neighbor, Candis Jackson recalled. “That’s when they started running outside and saying, ‘He shot my mom. He shot her.’ I called 911 and I heard multiple, more shots go off.”

Reed was taken into custody and charged with murder as well as two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Lawrence Reed bond has been set for $2,750,000.
