Shaquita Williams was indicted on Thursday for fatally stabbing her boyfriend in April.

On April 3, police were called to the Ridgecrest Apartments in Frayser shortly after 11 a.m.

According to an affidavit, Williams flagged down officers as they arrived at Leafy Hollow Drive in Frayser.

Derwin White, 52, was found dead outside her apartment with a large stab wound to the chest, according to Shelby County District Attorney General Amy Weirich.

White had cuts that were quite deep on his chest as well as on his left hand. The responding paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene of the accident.

After initially denying any involvement, Williams later confessed to the police that she and White had a heated argument, and that she had pointed a folding knife at White and said, “Don’t play with me. I’m not going to play with you.”

Williams, who is 39 years old, was charged with one count of second-degree murder, and she is currently being held on a bond of $250,000.

Chief Prosecutor Greg Gilbert of the District Attorney’s Domestic Violence Unit (DVU), which handles cases of domestic assault and homicide committed by intimate partners, is leading the prosecution of this case. The DVU is responsible for investigating and prosecuting these types of cases.
