After allegedly sending threatening emails to Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Francis Collins at the National Institutes of Health, a man is facing federal charges.

Thomas Patrick Connally, Jr., 56, is charged with threats against a federal official and interstate communication containing a threat to harm, according to the Maryland US Attorney’s Office, specifically for sending emails threatening harm to Dr. Fauci and Dr. Collins.

Dr. Fauci and his family were threatened with being “dragged into the street, beaten to death, and set on fire” in one of the emails.

Officials say seven threatening emails were sent in a ten-minute timeframe on April 24, 2021.

Connally faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison if convicted of threats against a federal official and five years in federal prison if convicted of interstate communication containing a threat to harm.
