William Anthony Spivey, 36, of Chadbourn, is in jail after a crime tip and community collaboration led to his hide out location on Watson Heritage Road near Loris.

Due to a misconduct investigation by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations, Spivey was removed of service last spring. He was eventually charged with over 70 felonies, including evidence tampering, narcotics trafficking, and embezzlement.

Spivey went missing on Monday after failing to return from a fishing expedition on the Lumber River in Columbus County, North Carolina. Multiple local and state agencies conducted a thorough water search as a result of the absence.

Spivey was found in a residence outside of Loris after HCPD detectives received a tip on Wednesday night. He made a brief attempt to flee into surrounding woods before being apprehended.
