Ex-WWE Star Shad Gaspard Missing After Rip Current Incident At Venice Beach
A beautiful, sunny day turned tragic for one family at the newly reopened Venice Beach when a father and son were pulled out with the rip current while swimming late Sunday afternoon.
The 10-year-old boy was rescued but his father is still missing, 39-year-old former WWE star Shad Gaspard.
A witness told the news outlet that Gaspard was telling lifeguards first to help his son out of the ocean, but then another large wave crashed collapsed on Gaspard.
Multiple outlets report that there were divers, lifeguards, rescue boats, and paramedics on the scene, along with the coast guard flying over the beach for nearly 3 hours.
In 2002, Gaspard signed with WWE, and had a multi-year run with JTG as Cryme Tyme on the main roster. In 2010 he was released from the company and has since acted and performed on the independents.
