James Dalton had no idea his Facebook Live video would record violence in his Algiers community around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.
“The little girls came running from down the street because they were getting shot at,” says Dalton.
According to authorities, a shooting occurred on Hendee Street in the Fischer Development Neighborhood. A 16-year-old boy, identified as Cody Davis by relatives, was slain, and a 17-year-old was injured.
He said that the terrified girls were desperate for a place to hide. One of them, a 17-year-old male, was shot multiple times.
“That was just a horrible scene. She was shot up and bleeding. Her arm had like three or four holes in it,” says Dalton.
Dalton and others rushed in to assist. Directly a few doors away, a man who FOX 8 would not identify says his nephew, 16-year-old Cody Davis, was shot in the head just outside his grandmother’s doorway.
“I was sitting in there watching the game, and I heard my nephew and them out here playing. The little girl that got shot was out there too,” says the man.
He says Davis died before help arrived. Cody Davis is Nairobi Davis’s first cousin, according to family members.
A law enforcement source told FOX 8 last month that the alleged intended target of the Magazine Street mass shooting at the Balcony Bar was Nairobi. Nairobi, one of six people injured in a quadruple shooting outside an Uptown church last October, is accused of murdering two men and injuring two others.
Family and friends are unsure whether the two shootings are connected.
