Thursday, police reported that three children were strangled to death in a Connecticut residence before their mother hanged herself.

Sonja Loja, 36, is suspected to have died from “asphyxia by hanging,” while her three kids, Junior Panjon, 12, Joselyn Panjon, 10, and Jonael Panjon, 5, looked to have “died by strangulation” on Wednesday, according to a statement released by Danbury police.

Preliminary results indicate that Ms. Loja strangled her 3 kids before committing suicide, according to authorities. However, this probe is still ongoing.

Thursday morning, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner verified the causes of death for the mom and her three kids through an autopsy.

Captain Mark Williams of the Danbury police department stated that Lija was discovered in a shed in the backyard.

In addition to conducting toxicological tests, the medical examiner will normally provide results within a few weeks.

Investigators discovered that the mother, her three children, and two people who were not there when police arrived also resided at the residence.

The mayor of Danbury, Dean Esposito, stated that the city would strive to provide mental health and counseling assistance to the family members of the deceased as well as the first responders.
