After allegedly breaking into a gun store at 3 a.m. Wednesday, two boys, ages 11 and 14, have been charged with 22 counts of grand theft with a firearm.

The burglary took place at Guns 4 Less, 2113 Del Prado Blvd South.

The two juveniles were discovered once police arrived at the scene. They were identified as 11 and 14-year-old brothers.

According to reports, the two boys fled with multiple weapons, ammo, magazines, rifles and shotguns.

Due to the load of the stolen firearms, the youths had dropped them and continued to try to escape officers on foot. Officers ultimately tracked down both boys near the scene of the theft.

According to Cape Coral Police, the investigation showed that the boys turned off the power to the business and gained entry.

When the boys got inside, they shattered the gun glass cases and stole 22 guns, rifles, handgun magazines, and numerous calibers of ammo, according to authorities.

According to police, all of the stolen items have indeed been recovered.

Even before the theft, the two boys went to the store around 3 p.m. on June 7 to examine the guns. The business owner then requested that the boys depart, and they did so without incident.

One of the boys is serving time on probation for armed robbery, burglary, and criminal mischief. He was also previously arrested for using social media to threaten another juvenile.

The boys are charged with 22 counts of grand theft with a firearm, one count of armed burglary, one count of criminal mischief over $1,000, and one count of resisting without violence grand theft, possession of burglary tools, according to CCPD.

One of the young men was also charged with violating his probation.

The boys’ father requested the services of a public defender during their appearance before a judge on Thursday morning.
