A Florida man has been arrested on Wednesday after deputies said he was caught on video in early May setting fire to his boss’s residence because “spirits” told him to.

Deputies said Thanh Ha, 54, was seen on numerous surveillance videos riding a bicycle approaching the newly built St. Petersburg residence around 11:50 a.m. on May 3. According to the arrest records, Ha then locked the bike to a neighboring stop sign and started walking to the house while trying to cover his face with his shirt.

Five minutes later, Ha was recorded on camera sprinting from the residence back to his bicycle before leaving.

According to deputies, the potential buyers recognized Ha as an employee of his company.

Ha informed deputies that he wasn’t angry with his job and that he caused the fire “because spirits’ told him to,” according to the records.

Second-degree arson charges were brought against Ha. A $10,000 bond was set.
