According to WBBH, a Florida teen is facing charges for reportedly stabbing her family’s dog in the belief that the animal was a part of a “voodoo curse.

According to WBBH, deputies rushed to an Immokalee residence about 11 a.m. Sunday after a lady informed deputies that Heaven Cummings, 19, had woken her up and informed her that she had stabbed their family dog, King.

When deputies arrived they found a dog with multiple stab wounds and pools of blood.

According to the caller, Cummings reportedly told police that she believed she was under a ‘voodoo curse’ and stabbed the dog because it would not stop following her.

King was rushed to an animal clinic, where a doctor determined that the dog had knife wounds on its chest, legs, tail, and back, as well as two stab wounds measuring one to two inches deep.

According to authorities, there were no allegations of the dog acting aggressively, and Cummings was unhurt in the incident.

The dog did survive and has since been sedated where it will be further evaluated for medical treatment, deputies said.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, Cummings has been charged with aggravated animal cruelty.
