A 19-year-old South Florida woman who eluded authorities in the Florida Keys told the deputy who apprehended her that being arrested was on her “bucket list.”

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said Janiya Shaimiracle Douglas, of Homestead, was charged with fleeing and eluding.

Just before 8 a.m. Thursday, the deputy observed the woman’s Toyota sedan “speeding and driving recklessly” on Card Sound Road in Key Largo. He activated his lights and siren, but the driver did not immediately stop, according to him.

Douglas eventually pulled over at the intersection of Card Sound Road and Overseas Highway, miles later.

Before being arrested, the woman told the deputy that being arrested was on her bucket list every since high school.
