According to a tweet from former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, she was denied service at a popular eatery on Friday because she was dressed inappropriately, specifically in leggings.

“I was just turned away at @CapitalGrille at Perimeter Mall because I have on leggings,” the former Mayor tweeted.

In her follow up tweet, she stated that it was “Odd that a restaurant in a mall parking lot turns away customers in “mall” attire.”

She says she “Asked if I could sit in the bar area and was told, “No.”. Rules are the rules, just wonder if the woman who came in immediately after me, who I did not see come back out, was also denied service.”

One user stated that the restaurant, Captial Grille, does have dress code and it’s located on their website.

“For the comfort of all guests and to better deliver on our promise of a refined atmosphere, proper dress is required. Thank you for not wearing: gym attire, sweatpants, tank tops, hats, clothing with offensive language or images, exposed undergarments,” the notice says.

Bottoms took office in January 2018 and announced that she would not seek re-election in May 2021. She announced shortly after her term ended that she had been hired as a CNN political commentator.
