The team confirms that former Dallas Cowboys running back Marion Barber III was discovered dead in his Frisco apartment on Wednesday.

According to NBC 5, the 38-year-old Barber was discovered unresponsive. No additional details are currently available, nor has a cause of death been given.

Wednesday afternoon, Frisco police stated that officers responded to a welfare check at a residence owned by Barber, but offered no additional information about the individual within it.

Barber, who would have turned 39 on June 10, was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the 4th round in 2005 and spent 6 seasons in North Texas, earning the tag line “Marion the Barbarian” for his hard-hitting, punishing running form.
