Federal agents assert that four men from Florida committed a spate of armed robberies while posing as police officers. Local drug dealers were their intended prey.

Nathaniel Carr of Lakeland, Reginald Roberts of Lakeland, Chrishawn Butler of Bartow, and Daniel Jackson of Winter Haven, according to prosecutors, posed as law enforcement officers. They wore fake police vests and drove a black Dodge Durango equipped with blue lights and sirens.

Attached to the criminal complaint are photographs of the suspects committing a robbery while posing as police officers and stealing money, drugs, cell phones, and other valuable items.

In certain instances, agents report that suspects fired weapons during robberies.

Prosecutors allege the team moved about, committing robberies in Hillsborough, Pasco, Polk, and Lee County. They assert the armed offenders were involved in at least 5 robberies between December 2020 and April 2021.

The FBI investigated this case with assistance from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the Bartow Police Department, the Lakeland Police Department, the Dade City Police Department, and other agencies.

All four are charged with federal robbery, conspiracy, brandishing, and discharging a weapon during a crime.
