According to police, a Henry County mom and her partner (boyfriend) have been charged with murder in the death of a 6-year-old boy who was found unconscious and bruised.
Police responded to a call about a child that was unconscious on Belmont Farms Drive in Ellenwood.
They discovered the child who was not responsive. According to authorities, he also had shallow breathing, blood pouring from his mouth, and injuries covering the bulk of his body.
EMTs came and swiftly rendered help to the boy before taking him by helicopter to Piedmont Henry Hospital and then Children’s Egleston Hospital, where he had been placed on life support.
Doctors stated they noticed multiple bruises all over the boy’s body after examining him, WSBTV reported.
DeShante Lashawn Beard, 33, and her boyfriend, Less Thompson, 29, were first charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault, and cruelty to children. However, when the boy was removed from life support on Thursday, the charges were elevated to malice murder and felony murder, according to WJCL.
