A 9-year-old Utah girl and her 4-year-old sister, who apparently planned to car trip to California to swim in the Ocean, stepped away from a head-on crash this week shortly after starting their mission.
The girls drove several miles north from their house early Wednesday when the kid driver swerved into opposing traffic and slammed into a semi-truck, according to FOX 13 in Salt Lake City.
The 9-year-old initially sideswiped a truck whose driver began following behind them, believing the driver was drunk. “He discovered the driver of the other vehicle was not impaired but was in fact a 9-year-old female driving with her 4-year-old sister,” West Valley City Police Lt. Bill Merritt said.
According to the outlet, both of the girls were wearing a seatbelt and no one else was harmed in the crash.
