Melle Mel on His Brother Kidd Creole Charged with Murdering a Homeless Man

Kidd Creole, a founding member of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, has been found guilty of fatally stabbing a homeless man on Wednesday. According to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr., the 62-year-old rapper, whose real name is Nathaniel Glover, was found guilty of first-degree manslaughter.

Prosecutors claim Glover stabbed and killed John Jolly, 55, with a steak knife after the two traded words in 2017.

Glover’s attorney tried to argue that Glover acted in self-defense, The Associated Press reported. Glover stabbed Jolly in a rage, according to Bragg, because he assumed Jolly was trying to hit on him.

Glover told The Source last year in a jailhouse interview that he is not an intolerant person and that he was concerned for his safety.

According to NBC New York, prosecutors stated at the time of Glover’s arrest that Jolly said “what’s up?” as Glover passed and that there was an heated argument before Glover stabbed him.

Glover’s sentencing date is set for May 4.

In 2007, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, which included Glover, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The group and its members were hip-hop innovators known for songs such as “The Message,” which was highly influential and widely praised.
