Two Crawford County deputies were suspended, and a Mulberry Police Officer was placed on administrative leave, after a clip of a violent arrest surfaced, causing an uproar on social media.

The three officers are seen in the video on top of the accused, reportedly using unnecessary force, at a corner store in Mulberry, Arkansas on Sunday, Aug. 21.

According to Crawford County Sheriff Jimmy Damante, around 10 a.m. Sunday, Alma police officers were notified about a guy making violent threats to a convenience store worker. According to reports, the suspect spit on the worker and threatened to “cut off their face.”

Sheriff Damante says the man then rode his bike to Mulberry, near Exit 20, where he was met by the Mulberry cop and deputies. The discussion started calmly, but according to the sheriff, the man then began to attack one of the deputies by pushing him to the pavement and throwing punches to the back of his head, resulting in the incident captured on video.

The deputies and officer can be seen in the video holding the individual firmly on the ground, kneeling on him, and smashing his face to the pavement.

Arkansas State Police are now investigating the incident, and CCSO is conducting an internal investigation.
