According to FOX32, 21-year-old man has been charged in the January murder of Marcel Wilson, a 12-year-old boy, at an Englewood residence.

Jaran Hughes of Chicago was identified as the person who gunned down Marcel by shooting him in the chest on January 2 while he was sitting on a bed with a group of individuals in a rear bedroom.

Hughes has been charged with murder.

People say Hughes was kicked out of his girlfriend’s house on Jan. 2. He went to the house where Marcel lived, they say.

The alleged gunman and one of Marcel’s older siblings have been best buddies since third grade. They call each other “family,” and they think of each other as family, too. Prosecutors say that Hughes had been been snuck into the residence by the sibling.

His 13-year-old sister was sitting besides him while he started to play a video game in a bedroom.

Marcel’s older brother, who was best buddies with Hughes, was on the phone with headphones on while he talked. In bed, Hughes talked to his girlfriend on video chat.

Prosecutors say Hughes’ girlfriend saw him on FaceTime with a black semi-automatic gun that had a long magazine. The girlfriend says she has seen him with this gun on many other times.

Marcel then made fun of Hughes about his girlfriend. It was at that time, prosecutors say that Hughes pointed the gun toward Marcel.

He didn’t put the gun away even though Marcel and his 13-year-old sister asked him over and over again.

Soon after, Hughes is said to have pulled the slide back, pointed the gun at Marcel, and fired one shot into Marcel’s chest.

Marcel’s 13-year-old sister saw the shooting, but Marcel’s other brother was still on his mobile and didn’t see it. It was, however, the other sibling that had seen Hughes with the weapon.

Marcel then managed to run out of the bedroom and ran to his mother ‘s room as he held his chest and said, “He shot me, he shot me,” over and over again.

He fell to the ground, and he didn’t actually make it to his mother’s room.

Marcel’s oldest brother then put some pressure on his wound

A.t the same time, another person was in their living room. She allegedly saw Hughes pick up a spent gun shell casing with his handgun in the back of the apartment while he was armed with it.

Hughes didn’t say one word as he ran out the door, the prosecutors say. He left his phone, jacket, and one of his shoes.

Marcel was taken to the hospital, but he died from his wounds.

Prosecutors say that Chicago police officers who responded to a call about Hughes found his other shoe in a nearby alley.

A single 9mm bullet casing is said to have been found in the bedroom where the shooting took place.

When the police did two search warrants, they say they found discussions on two Facebook accounts connected to Hughes. They say that he told his girlfriend that his life was over because of what occurred, and that he was going to be in jail.

A warrant for his arrest was then made. He then left the state.

Police found that he was living with his cousins in Racine, Wisconsin. Then, on January 14, he was taken into police custody there, and the process of getting him back began. CPD ended up taking Hughes into custody Tuesday and took him to Cook County, prosecutors said.

Hughes is now, where he belongs, being held without bail.
