In Florida, a woman who threw her boyfriend’s pug off his seventh-floor condo balcony while intoxicated was arrested and charged with the dog’s death.
On Sunday, Shelley Nicole Vaughn, 46, stormed into Eric Adeson’s Clearwater Beach condo, threw his belongings out the window, and hit him during an argument, leaving him feeling numb.
He also stated that she was under the influence of alcohol, prescription drugs, and marijuana at the time of the attack.
According to Adeson, a math and SAT tutor, Vaughn was intoxicated and arguing with him when she took his smartphone and keys and flung them down the balcony.
She then allegedly struck him after he repeatedly asked her to go before she grabbed Bucky.
When she picked up Adeson’s three-year-old pug, Bucky, she smiled and then threw him to his death. That’s according to Adeson, who is suing Vaughn for $30,000.
Adeson stated that he was shouting in disbelief and shoved her out of his apartment as he dashed downstairs in a panic.
He stated that he was sobbing as he cradled his puppy in his arms while passerby dialed 911. When authorities arrived, Vaughn was allegedly trapped in her unit, which was two levels below Adeson’s.
Vaughn was charged with aggravated animal cruelty, criminal mischief, and domestic assault on Monday. She faces a maximum sentence of two years in jail and a punishment of $1,000 for each of the latter two crimes, as well as a maximum fine of $5,000 for the animal cruelty accusation.
