Woman gunned down while hold her baby, family say

According to DeKalb County Police, a man was arrested on Thursday after gunning down a woman who was fleeing him in a domestic incident the day before.

The incident occurred when the suspect “forcefully removed the victim and their child from the location,” according to the DeKalb County Police Department.

“While attempting to flee, the suspect fatally shot the victim. The suspect then surrendered to the police,” the department said.

The suspect’s relationship with the woman was not disclosed by police. Mi’Ckeya Montgomery, 21, was identified as the victim, and the child is “recovered and taken to an area hospital for minor injuries.”

Taco Nash, 22, was identified as the suspect by police.

The shooting occurred Wednesday in a forested area behind Education Elevation Children Academy on Snapfinger Park Drive, according to police. Mic’keya Montgomery had just managed to pick up her daughter Chloe from childcare when her family says she was ambushed.

Nash, Chloe’s father, was expecting Mic’keya. Despite wearing an ankle monitor as a condition of being released on bond, her family claims he held Mic’keya and her young daughter at gunpoint.
