According to NBC NY, a teen mother was arrested and charged with murdering her 1-day-old child by throwing him out her 5th floor window in the Bronx.
The newborn was found in a flower garden outside the 17-year-apartment old’s on East 158th Street in the Mott Haven section in October 2021, prompting murder and manslaughter charges, according to police.
When authorities were called around 3 p.m. on Oct. 24, the teen was at Lincoln Hospital. She admitted to officers that she had given birth in her apartment.
The mom had thrown the baby boy out the window, according to the investigative process. According to police, the baby landed in the flowerbed in front of the building.
The 1-day-old baby was discovered unresponsive and unconscious, and was later declared dead on the scene.
The death of the child was ruled a homicide by the medical examiner, and the mom was arrested as a consequence. The teen, who has not been identified due to her status as a minor, has yet to be assigned an attorney.
