Alex Harvill, 28, attempted to leap more than 107 meters on his motorbike at the Moses Lake Airshow in Washington, but the stunt ended in horrifying manner when he crashed at great speed in a massive dirt mound.

Authorities confirmed that he was taken to the hospital but died as a direct result of his injuries.

Harvill, a renowned stuntman, previously established the world record for the longest dirt-to-dirt leap in 2013 when his motorcycle carried him 90m at Horn Rapids Motorsports Complex in Washington.

Harvill’s family issued this statement, according to KREM: “While this was obviously a very tragic event that unfolded, Alex was doing what he loved to do. And we thank everyone for their outpouring of support.”

He married in 2019 and leaves behind a wife, Jessica Harvill, and two young boys, including a newborn born last month, according to his Instagram account.
