According to reports, a Memphis man is suspected of murdering his newlywed wife on their Fiji honeymoon after a “whirlwind romance.”

According to Fox 13, Bradley Robert Dawson was charged with murder when Christe Chen was discovered dead at a picturesque Fiji resort in the Yasawa Islands.

Dawson’s attorney told the news channel that he couldn’t disclose how his 36-year-old bride perished, but that her corpse was recovered in a hotel room.

The attorney also stated that his 38-year-old client has maintained his innocence in the murder case.

According to the Fiji Sun, officials asked a judge to require Dawson to produce a DNA sample after the defendant declined forensics testing following the July 9 homicide.

The DNA request, as well as a bail application, would need to be submitted in the High Court in Lautoka after the case was transferred during the hearing, according to Magistrate Sekonaia Vodokisolomone.

Chen worked as a pharmacist at Kroger and attended the University of Tennessee. Her LinkedIn page also stated that she was the owner and pastry chef of Sweet As Pie Bakery in Denver, Colorado, until 2017.

Dawson works in the IT department of a children’s charity but has since been suspended.

According to the Daily Beast, the couple married in February.
