“I guess I’m going to lose my gun again,” an Idaho officer said minutes after shooting and killing a knife-wielding man whose relatives had called officials for assistance because he was undergoing a mental health crisis.

The shooting and remarks were caught on police-worn cameras, and NBC News acquired the videos through a freedom of information act request to the Lewiston Police Department.

The agency investigated the fatal shooting of Michael Trappett, 48, at his parents’ residence on Jan. 31 in Orofino, a town of about 3,100 people in north Idaho.

Clearwater County Sheriff Chris Goetz said in a statement that Cpl. Brittany Brokop’s actions were justified by the Latah County prosecuting attorney last month, and she returned to regular patrol duty. In February, she was put on administrative leave.

The prosecutor cleared Randall Carruth, a 2nd deputy who shot Trappett, and he returned to regular patrol.
