Sunday (August 7) in the Florida neighborhood, a 4-year-old girl died and a 2-year-old boy was critically injured after being stabbed by their mentally unstable mother, according to New Orleans police.

Jenee Pedesclaux, 31, was charged with second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and second-degree cruelty to a child in correlation with the double stabbing reported at 11:17 a.m. in the 3100 block of Law Street.

Fox 8 obtained surveillance footage depicting a man believed to be the children’s father arriving at the scene in a white pickup and running toward the home. Minutes later, the same man can be seen racing back to the truck with the wounded toddlers, the older sibling stumbling and starting to fall to the sidewalk before regaining his footing and continuing to run.

In a disturbing video that has since been removed from Pedesclaux’s Instagram account, a woman in a blood-stained tank top and crying hysterically, “I’m dying. My children is dead. I’m dying! I’m done with life!”

Unidentified neighbors told Fox 8 that this social media post informed the dad that his kids were in serious danger or had been injured. When he reached the house, he broke and managed to climb through a front window to to save the kids, taking them to the hospital to be treated.

The 4-year-old girl reportedly died at the hospital, while her 2-year-old brother was listed in critical condition, according to the police.

A witness stated that Pedesclaux was taken away on an ambulance gurney after being arrested at the scene. Sunday evening, according to the NOPD, she was booked into the Orleans Justice Center.

Mario Bravo, a child abuse detective with the NOPD, is leading the investigation. Please contact the Special Victims Section at (504) 658-5267 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111 if you have any information about the incident.
