The best of Broadway for the 2021-22 season were named at the 75th annual Tony Awards. And it was a big night for Jennifer Hudson: at the Tony Awards on Sunday, she became only the 17th person to achieve the entertainment industry’s equivalent of the triple crown.

Hudson has achieved EGOT status, having won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and now a Tony.

Hudson was a producer on the award-winning musical A Strange Loop.

The show is “a musical about a young Black gay man named Usher who works as an usher at a Broadway show who is writing a musical about a young Black gay man named Usher who works as an usher at a Broadway show… who is caught in a self-referential loop of his own self hatred,” according to the show’s creator, Michael R. Jackson.

Hudson has received Daytime Emmys for her work as an executive producer on Baby Yaga, Grammys for The Color Purple and her debut self-titled solo album, and an Oscar for best supporting actress in Dreamgirls.
