Jussie Smollett will be held in protective custody while serving his sentence, as requested.

Judge James Linn imposed a 150-day jail sentence on the actor, which he will serve under protective custody. According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Judge Linn stated that Smollett and his team asked for the protection.

The goal of protective custody is to keep an inmate safe while they serve their sentence.

Following Thursday’s sentencing, Smollett was immediately taken into custody.  Smollett was given a medical and psychiatric assessment, as well as a security assessment, according to a Cook County Sheriff’s Office representative.

As previously reported, Smollett erupted after his sentence was delivered, which included 30 months of felony probation, $120,000 in restitution, and a $25K fine. Reiterating that he isn’t suicidal, and that if anything happens to him while he’s in jail, he wants everyone to know he didn’t do it to himself.
