Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, will not perform on music’s biggest night due to backlash over recent social media attacks on several people, including Kim Kardashian’s boyfriend, Pete Davidson, and television host Trevor Noah.

Despite being nominated for five Grammys, including Best Rap Song for “Jail” and Album of the Year for “Donda,” which he named after his late mother, the hip hop artist was forbidden from performing at the Grammys for “concerning online behavior,” according to his spokesperson. On Friday, Ye’s team received a phone call informing them of the alteration.

According to The Blast, which broke the story first, the decision was made in part because Noah is going to host the Grammys and there is some worry about the two men colliding.

Ye’s spokesperson stated that they are not surprised by the Grammys’ decision, implying that the music awards show is out of date and does not determine an artist’s success.

The move comes just days after Ye was recently blocked from Instagram for violating the platform’s hate speech, bullying, and harassment guidelines.

The rapper’s Instagram profile, which has over 15 million followers, has had its content removed. Furthermore, the acct was forbidden from posting, making comments, or sending direct messages for 24 hours, according to a Meta spokesperson on Wednesday.

Ye reportedly posted a photo of Noah with racial epithets earlier this week after the comedian and tv host mentioned the drama surrounding Ye’s divorce.
