The Artist Formerly Known As 'Kanye West' (Image: Screenshot/YouTube)
Kanye West, 44, wants to officially change his name to Ye by filing court documents.
West intends to minimize his full name – Kanye Omari West – to just Ye, with no other first or surname, referencing “personal reasons” in a submission with the Los Angeles Superior Court on Aug. 11. The filing must now be signed of by a judge.
West, who has referred to himself as Ye on social media for years, tweeting in 2018 that he would like the change, saying, “the being formally known as Kanye West. I am YE.”
He has been holding stadium listening parties for his upcoming 10th new album “Donda,” which is scheduled to be released by the end of August.
