On Friday, a Kokomo man was arrested on child pornography charges. He is reportedly a kindergarten teacher at a local elementary school.
Brian Lee Jakes, 49, of Kokomo, is charged with four counts of child exploitation and nine counts of possessing child pornography, according to authorities. He was arrested at an Indianapolis hospital on Friday.
Jakes is a kindergarten teacher at Elwood Haynes Elementary School in Kokomo, according to Kokomo Tribune.
The Kokomo School Corporation announced that an educator had been put on leave and that administrators were working with law enforcement.
On April 13, police executed a search warrant at Jakes’ Kokomo home, seizing digital devices from the premises. Jakes was reported missing the following day. Police say, and he was discovered on a farm property west of Kokomo on April 15 with self-inflicted injuries.
Jakes was treated and evaluated at an Indianapolis hospital. He was taken into custody on felony charges following his release from the hospital on Friday, April 23rd.
