Baltimore Police Release Bodycam Video After Shooting Man Holding His Fiancée At Knifepoint (Image: Screenshot/YouTube)
The body camera video that prompted police officers to fatally shoot a guy who was keeping a woman hostage at knifepoint was disclosed by Baltimore police on Wednesday.
Officers were dispatched to East Lafayette Avenue for a family disturbance at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, according to Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison. Officer Gaston Melendez and his trainee came and spoke with a boy who stated that he had called 9-1-1 on his father because he was trying to kill his mother with a knife, according to Harrison.
Officers tried hard to de-escalate the matter before having to make a split-second choice when it looked the guy lifted the knife as though to attack the victim, according to police bodycam footage.
