A man has been arrested after allegedly shooting his ex-wife four times on Monday morning, the day they were due in court for a child custody issue, according to KTRK.

The incident occurred at 3 a.m. Monday at a residence on Memorial Crossing Drive, according to authorities. Officials say Aaron B. Wright broke into his ex’s home and shot her 4 times.

According to neighbors, the victim and Wright had had longstanding issues. The pair was supposed to appear in court later Monday for a custody hearing.

The couple has been divorced for approximately a year, according to Harris County Deputy Investigator John Mook.

According to Mook, their four children, ages 5 to 12, were at home and asleep in their beds during the shooting. They were all unharmed.
