Man Charged After Being Arrested with 6 Guns at Publix in Atlanta

Employees were shocked on Wednesday when a man armed with multiple weapons entered the Publix in Atlantic Station.

Officers arrived at the store around 1:35 p.m. and spoke with management, who stated that the armed man had entered the store’s restroom. Responding officers located the man and detained him immediately, according to reports.

Officers initially stated that they found he was in possession of five firearms and body armor. There were two long guns and three handguns. However, in a Thursday morning update, they released a photo of the weapons and stated that they had taken away six guns.

The 22-year-old man was later arrested and charged with five counts of criminal attempt – aggravated assault and six counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to Atlanta Police.

When local news stations asked if the man was licensed to carry, cops said the case was still being investigated. While authorities have not stated why the man entered the store, Georgia is an open-carry state.
