Man Charged in Wife's Murder, Told Police She's 'swimming with the fishes'

A Florida man accused of killing his wife and burying her in his backyard reportedly tried to throw cops off by telling them she was “swimming with the fishes,” according to authorities.

When Mary Stella Gomez Mullet, 45, went missing in Palm Beach County on February 22, her 66-year-old husband Roberto Colon confessed to having a fight with her.

Even after police discovered blood on his front door and inside his garage, he said he had nothing to do with her disappearance.

Gomez Mullet is “swimming with the fishes,” the husband reportedly hollered at detectives as they left his house, demanding them to “find the body, find the body,” WPEC reported.

However, police discovered that Colon had tried to strangle his wife and bury her in his backyard in January.

As officers went to arrest him on Friday for an unrelated drug charge, they overheard him telling a friend, “There’s one thing they can’t do, they can’t bring what’s his name, Humpty Dumpty back together again,” according to WPEC.

However, police discovered human remains on the property, and he was charged with first-degree premeditated murder on Saturday.
