California Man Dies After Police Pin Him to Ground For Several Minutes (Image: Screenshot/YouTube)
Late Tuesday, police in Alameda, California, released body camera footage showing officers pinning a man to the ground for more than five minutes during an arrest last week that resulted in his death.
After the interaction with cops in an Alameda park on April 19, Mario Gonzalez, 26, stopped breathing.
Gonzalez had a medical emergency, according to a police statement, after officers attempted to handcuff him.
His family believes that he was murdered by cops who used excessive unnecessary force.
VIDEO
Although an autopsy is expected soon to identify the cause of his death, family members held responsible the cops at a news conference on Tuesday, claiming that officers intensified what should have been a miniscule, nonviolent encounter with the unarmed person.
