The Hate Is Strong: 79-Year-Old Man Pleads Guilty To Putting Dead Animals on Neighbor’s Grave

79-Year-Old Man Pleads Guilty To Putting Dead Animals on Neighbor's Grave

An elderly man accused of putting more than a dozen animal carcasses on top of an old neighbor’s grave pleaded guilty on Monday.

Joseph Stroud, 79, agreed to a plea agreement, lowering his charges from a felony to a misdemeanor. He is suspected of causing more than $2,500 in damage to a former neighbor’s gravestone by coating it with the blood of dead animals.

Fred Allen McKinney’s granddaughter called the police in July after she and her family had started locating dead animals on her grandfather’s grave two months earlier.

The granddaughter informed the authorities that her grandfather and Stroud shared a property line and“never got along with each other” for several years.

Stroud has to pay $2,500 in victim restitution and he was given a one-year suspended sentence.
