This morning (July 13), the Yonkers neighborhood revealed a 35-foot-by-22-foot painting in the parking lot of the Calcagno public housing complex on School Street, where the rapper formerly lived.

The painting, created by New York artist Floyd Simmons and completed in less than two weeks, displays a photo of X as well as verses from his songs “School Street,” “That’s My Dog,” and “Look Thru My Eyes.” DMX’s family, including fiancée Desiree Lindstrom, attended the ceremony.

DMX passed in early April after a week-long stay in White Plains Hospital, as previously reported. He died of a heart attack at the age of 50. According to the Westchester County medical examiner’s office, the late rapper died of a cocaine-induced heart attack that stopped blood supply to his brain.
