Two guys were arrested in India after being captured on video throwing a relative who had died after contracting COVID-19 into a nearby river.
The suspects, identified as Sanjay Kumar and Manoj Kumar by police, were arrested after a passerby shared a video of the horrific deed on Saturday, according to India Today.
The video shows the two guys, one of whom is wearing a safety bodysuit, standing in the downpour on a bridge in Balrampur’s Kotwali district, preparing to drop the deceased relative’s body over the edge and into the Rapti River, according to the source.
Officials identified the deceased as Premnath but did not reveal his connection to the suspects.
According to India Today, Premnath was brought to the hospital on May 25 after testing positive for the fatal virus, and perished on Saturday while receiving treatment.
Authorities stated his corpse was given over to his family for burial, but instead they just threw his corpse into the water, according to the newspaper.
